Mercer County Unemployment Rate Below Statewide Average

The Mercer County Unemployment Rate is 4.4%.

The number is for July and compares to a 5.2% figure that was recorded the same time a year ago, according to data from the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The number is up from June’s unemployment rate in the county of 3.8%.

Unemployment is also lower from year-over-year levels in Henderson, Knox, Rock Island and Warren counties. The unemployment rate remained unchanged in Henry County from last year to this year.

The unemployment rate identifies those who are out of work and seeking employment. A person who exhausts benefits or is ineligible will still be reflected in the unemployment rate if they actively seek work.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is 4.8%. The nationwide unemployment rate is 4.6%.
