Elizabeth A. Johnson, 84 of Clay Center, Kansas, formerly of Aledo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Clay Center. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, September 5, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Graveside services will directly follow shortly after 12 p.m. at the Aledo Cemetery on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be left to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She was born on January 15, 1942, in Moline, the daughter of Ivar and Dorothy Morey Carlson. She attended the Aledo schools. On December 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Johnson in Aledo. They were married for 63 years before his passing on June 13, 2023.
Liz was a homemaker and for many years was a physical therapy aid at the Mercer County Hospital and the Mercer County Nursing Home. She spent the end of her career working at Stuts Hallmark Store in Aledo. Most recently, she was a volunteer at the Lighthouse for Christ in Clay Center.
Liz previously attended the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Aledo and currently was attending the Clay Center Presbyterian Church.
She had many hobbies, but nothing filled her heart more than reading. Reading took her on many different adventures. She also was an avid embroiderer. After she moved to the nursing home, she developed a new interest in diamond art and many family members have diamond art paintings of their favorite landscape or animal.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Kenneth Dean (Vicki) Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Vicki (Larry) Clemons of Clay Center; seven grandchildren, Zach Springer, Silas Springer, Heather Mulligan, Jake Johnson, Nick Johnson, Emilee Kurt, and Faith Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected; and one brother, David Stratton of Milan, Illinois. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.
