Thomas Andrew was born on February 22, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa, to Maynard A. and Elizabeth (Noble) Boruff. He married Vicki K. Hyett on February 9, 1974, in Reynolds, Illinois. Together they lived, farmed, and raised their family on the family homestead that has been in the family almost 200 years in Eliza. He also was a route driver for various companies, retiring after 25 years from G&K Services.

Tom devoted his life to the Eliza Community. You could count on him to do the jobs that most people don’t think about. He spent 50 years serving on the Hamlet Mutual Insurance Board, was President of the Eliza Creek Cemetery Board, and member of the Eliza Community Church, Mercer County Farm Bureau, and Charter member of the Eliza Lions Club.

If you knew Tom, you knew his family and how important they were to him. He was extremely proud of all of them, including the in-laws. Tom shared his love of tractors with his son and grandson and was especially proud of his Allis Chalmers, WD 45. He was very proud to have his first great-grandson, Jackson.

Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his wife, Vicki; children and spouses, Bill and Stacey Boruff of Eliza and Katie and Matt Laleman of Geneseo; grandchildren, Andrew and Brianna Boruff and Kaelyn and Rylan McAlister, all of Eliza; and great-grandson, Jackson Andrew Boruff. Tom is also survived by his many friends in the Eliza Community including the Eliza Community Church Family.
