Richard E. Nylin, 86 of Keithsburg, Illinois, unexpectedly passed away, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Keithsburg Fire Department. Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Richard Earl was born on September 4, 1939, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Ben and Zola Fauble Nylin. He graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1957. After graduation, Richard served in the United States Navy from 1957-1960. On September 1, 1962, he married Janet Morris in Moline, Illinois.
Richard was employed for over 20 years at the JI Case Backhoe Plant in Burlington, Iowa, retiring in 1991. After retirement he enjoyed helping at Frieden Farms. He and Janet wintered in Arizona for over 20 years. Richard was an active member of the Eagles Club in Oquawka, Illinois, and the Keithsburg Boat Club. Richard took great pride in his garden and sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. He loved the Mississippi River…from boating to just taking rides down by the river. His greatest joy was time spent with family, he lit up when he was with his grandkids and great grandkids.
Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his loving wife, Janet; children, Allen (Debbie) Nylin of Silvis, Illinois, and Amy (Charlie Martin) Lincoln of Illinois City, Illinois; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Tiffany) Nylin, Brittany (Keaton) Zirkle, Derek (Brooke) Nylin, Jennifer (Brandon) Askew, and Bobby Lincoln; five great grandchildren, Ben Cummins, Oaklynn, Parker, Callum, and Charlotte; siblings, Benjamin (Janet) Nylin and Kathy Wheeler; sisters-in-law, Nancy Nylin and Joyce (Paul) King; and several bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Nylin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Bernice Morris; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Wheeler and Skip Morris.
