A rural Aledo man facing first-degree murder charges will remain in custody and return to court next month.
31-year-old Terrence Fetter waived a detention hearing in Mercer County Circuit Court on Thursday afternoon and will remain in custody at the Mercer County Jail. Fetter was arrested earlier this week following a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department investigation into a death at a residence in rural Aledo near Matherville.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, deputies were called to the residence just after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday following a 911 call regarding a death. Upon arrival, deputies say they located a deceased male, who has been identified as 63-year-old Gregory Johnson of Aledo by Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson.
Prosecutors allege Fetter “attacked and stabbed” Johnson, causing his death.
Fetter will return to court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 19.
