The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man at a residence in rural Aledo near Matherville.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, deputies were called to the residence just after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday following a 911 call regarding a death. Upon arrival, deputies say they located a deceased male.
Authorities say another resident of the home has been detained in connection with the incident, but no formal charges have been filed at this time.
According to the release, the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Deputies say the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety.
