An Aledo man charged after police seized more than 13 pounds of drugs from an Aledo house in July will return to court next month.
22-year-old Preston Huston of Aledo appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing, where a pretrial conference was scheduled for Oct. 21. Huston’s attorney also turned over the passcode to his phone after the state filed a motion to compel him to disclose the passcode earlier this month.
A co-defendant in the case, 22-year-old Dequan Huntley of Chicago, will be back in court for a pretrial conference on Oct. 20.
Huston and Huntley were arrested in July following an investigation by the Aledo Police Department and Quad Cities Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG). A press release from the Aledo Police Department at the time of the arrest said that 119 grams of MDMA testing positive for methamphetamine, 4,697 grams of marijuana, 1,506 grams of THC wax, 63 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, and digital scales were found and seized from the property.
Huston is charged with a Class X felony of possession with intent to deliver 100-400 grams of methamphetamine and a Class 1 felony of possession with intent to deliver 2,000-5,000 grams of cannabis.
Huntley is charged with a Class X felony of possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams of cocaine and a Class 2 felony of possession with intent to deliver 500-1,000 grams of cannabis.
Both have pleaded not guilty to all charges and were granted pretrial release with conditions, including GPS monitoring.
