The Mercer County Farm Bureau is helping carry on county fair traditions this week in Aledo, especially with a favorite for younger fairgoers—Wednesday’s Kiddie Tractor Pull. Farm Bureau Manager Jenna Preston joined Terry James on WRMJ to share details about the event and other fair activities.
“Our Young Leader group hosts the Kiddie Tractor Pull every year near the pavilion by the fair office,” Preston explained. “It’s for kids 12 and under. Sign-up starts at noon on Wednesday, and the pull begins promptly at 1 p.m.” The Farm Bureau borrows the pedal-powered tractors from a Henry County supporter, rotating between two sizes depending on the weight of the child.
The event draws a mix of local youth—some fresh from livestock shows, others stopping by before heading to the carnival rides—all eager to join in a bit of friendly, old-fashioned competition.
Fairgoers can also find the Farm Bureau team throughout the week offering free water, candy, koozies, and coloring pages at their booth in the white tent near the livestock show ring. “We’ll be here through Friday,” said Preston, “just helping support the families and kids involved.”
That support will be front and center again Friday evening during the 4-H Youth Livestock Auction, where Brownfield belt buckles will be awarded to standout youth ag leaders. “Only two people know who the winners are right now,” said Terry James. “We’ll reveal them at the auction.”
