Macomb’s defense held Mercer County in check all night in a 47-35 boys basketball win in Aledo on Tuesday.
With the game tied 6-6 early in the first quarter, the Bombers (10-6) used an 8-0 run to take a 14-6 lead and never trailed the rest of the game. Macomb held a 23-18 advantage at halftime and outscored the Golden Eagles 15-9 in the third quarter to take a 37-28 lead into the fourth. The Bombers led by as many as 18 points in the fourth.
Nick Elbe scored a team-high 12 points for Macomb. Nolan Hoge added 11 in the win.
Brady McPeek netted 19 points for Mercer County (8-6).
The Bombers snapped a two-game losing skid with the win, while the Golden Eagles dropped their third straight contest.
