David E. Salmon – Celebration Of Life 9/20/26

David E. Salmon, 76 of Aledo, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at OSF St. Mary’s Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 20, at the Mercer County VFW, Aledo. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County VFW. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.

David Eugene was born on July 25, 1950, in Aledo, Illinois to Floyd E. and Muriel “Fae” (Toohey) Salmon. He served his country in the United States Navy and upon coming home, became an active member of the Mercer County VFW. He served in many capacities, including commander and currently was Chaplain. Dave and Kris Noble were married on September 30, 1978, at Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church.

Dave retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after many years of service. He also enjoyed farming and served as a mechanic and bus driver for Headley Bus Service and drove short semi routes in the area. Dave was also a trained barber.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, socializing, and playfully teasing his grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife, Kris; children, Maxi Salmon and Luke and Beth Salmon; grandchildren, Hanna Summers and David Mullins, Bodie Salmon, and Aubrey Salmon; great-grandchildren, Ensley, Evelynn, Zurina, and Theo; and siblings, Lisa and Mark Baker and Terry and Lydia Salmon. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
