Rockridge survived to defeat Mercer County 21-12 to remain unbeaten at home on Friday.

Thomas Sowards intercepted a halfback pass and returned it 60 yards for a TD with 1:14 remaining in the game to turn a 14-12 lead for the Rockets (4-0, 1-0 TRAC Rock) into a nine-point, two-possession advantage.

Rockridge quarterback Cullen Schwigen rushed for a scored and connected on a TD pass with Chase Wheatley.

Ex Ocampo led Mercer County (1-3, 0-1 TRAC Rock) with 98 yards rushing and two TDs in the loss.

The Rockets never trailed in the game, but didn’t take a two-possession lead until converting on the PAT following Sowards’ interception return.
