Local military veterans and pilots are remembering 9/11 on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
1986 Aledo High School graduate Kris Hess, who enlisted in 1986, and 2000 Aledo High School graduate Jimmy Unsworth, who enlisted in 2000, were both deployed following the attacks. They both say it was a life-changing experience and are very proud of their service.
1986 Aledo High School graduate Eric Baker is a United Airlines pilot who was working in September 2001. He says his first post-9/11 flight came less than a week after the attack, and it was to assist in moving families of victims for memorial services.
The Mercer County VFW and Aledo American Legion are holding a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Aledo 9/11 Memorial in the VFW parking lot on Saturday at 11 a.m.
