The City of Aledo remains hopeful for the Northside Lofts project at the former Aledo Jr. High property, but the timeline may be impacted again. The $15.2 million redevelopment has been approved for Illinois Historic Tax Credits but has been denied tax credits from the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Mayor Chris Hagloch was asked about the status of the project earlier this week at a committee meeting.
The Economic Growth Corporation is the group leading the project. They announced plans in late 2021 and indicated the property would include 30 workforce housing units.
