Multiple police agencies repond to a Friday incident in New Boston. It started at 11:20 a.m. with New Boston Police receiving a call regarding a subject who had made statements that were percieved to be suicidal in nature, according to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release. The subject was reported to be in possession of a firearm and that subject reportedly discharged a round. Along with New Boston Police and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department; Illinois State Police Zone 2 Investigations, Illinois State Police Crisis Negotiations Team, Illinois State Police SWAT, and Illinois State Police patrol units responded to the scene. The subject, 31-year-old Cody Zahn of New Boston was eventually taken into custody. He has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, obstructing justice, and possession of a firearm without a FOID card. New Boston Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
