New Attorney Allowed In New Windsor Man’s Sex Abuse Cases; August Pre-Trial Scheduled

A New Windsor man charged in two sex abuse cases gets a new attorney. 47-year-old Matthew Walsh was granted the request Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court despite objections from the state.
In one case Walsh is charged with a Class X felony of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two Class 2 felonies of aggravated criminal sexual abuse stemming from allegations involving a girl under the age of 13. In the other case, he is facing two Class 2 felonies in connection with allegations involving another girl under the age of 13. Walsh has pleaded not guilty in both cases. He was arrested last March following an investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and New Windsor Police Department. Walsh remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail on $300,000 bond.
A pre-trial is set for Aug. 17.
