Mercer County (16-13) opened postseason play with a win at the IHSA 2A Sherrard Regional Monday by defeating Alleman (7-21), 25-15, 25-20 in the quarterfinals. Molly Hofmann tallied 11 kills in the win, surpassing 500 kills for her career. Maddie Hofmann added seven kills for the Golden Eagles. Mercer County advances to Tuesday’s regional semifinal against Sherrard (27-7-1).
Rockridge (16-15) also won in the quarterfinals at Sherrard Monday, beating Bureau Valley (14-17), 25-23, 25-21. The Rockets take on Orion (31-3) Tuesday.
