Ardis J. Hampton, 91, formerly of Aledo, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 26, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 27, also at the Fippinger Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at the Aledo Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Viola United Methodist Church at noon on Friday, October 27. Memorials may be left to the Viola United Methodist Church or to The Order of the Eastern Star #516. She was born December 12, 1931 in Joy, IL, to Fred and Stella (Epperly) Forrest. She married Richard Wayne Hampton on February 3, 1952, in Joy. Ardis was a 1949 graduate of Joy High School. In earlier years, she was employed with National Bank of Aledo; Colonial Williamsburg, Williamsburg, VA; and Atlantic Federal Savings & Loan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and had served three years as Assistant Librarian at the Viola Public Library.
She was the pianist and organist at the Eliza Community Church for 13 years. She was also the organist and choir director at the Viola United Methodist Church for 20 years.
She was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church, the Buffalo Prairie Order of Eastern Star, and the New Windsor American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved spending time with family and friends, music, and traveling.
Surviving are her daughter, Rhonda, and son-in-law, Terry White; one sister, Shirley Dunn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Proceeding her in death were her husband; her parents; brothers: Eugene Forrest and Garl Forrest; sisters: Donna Pence, Doyne Epperly, and Maribelle Peterson; brothers-in-law: Bob Pence, Leroy Epperly, Wendell “Pete” Peterson, and Charley Dunn; and sisters-in-law: Betty Forrest and Nancy Forrest.
