Mercer County EMT trainees gained first-hand experience by responding to a mock car accident simulation over the weekend.
Nearly 25 people in the county are enrolled in EMT training classes that are being offered in Aledo
On Saturday, they took part in an exercise at the Aledo Fire Station, where there was a two-vehicle accident and two victims in each accident. The EMT classes had to assess the victims, prepare them for transport, load them into an ambulance and give a report to an on-site medical director of each victim’s injuries.
Aledo Fire Protection District Board of Trustees President Mike Sponsler says it provided valuable experience for the classes.
The trainees will take a national board test on May 2. If they pass, they will officially become EMTs.
