Case Continued To August For QC Area Woman Charged In Rural Sherrard Drug-Induced Death

A Quad Cities area woman charged in a rural Sherrard drug-induced death investigation is having her case continued to August.

The Aug. 11 pre-trial conference was set for 53-year-old Susan McFalls of Colona, who appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Tuesday. The delay was attributed to the defense.

McFalls is charged with first-degree murder and a Class X felony of drug-induced homicide via accountability stemming from the death of Anthony Qualls of rural Sherrard in December 2023.

She was granted pre-trial release.

A co-defendant in the case, 42-year-old William DeWitt of Milan, is also facing first-degree murder and drug-induced homicide counts. He remains in the Mercer County Jail and will return to court on June 25.

Both have pleaded not guilty.
