An incoming Mercer County School District fifth grader was crowned Li’l Miss Illinois over the weekend.
Nine-year-old Elsie Bieri of Aledo earned the honor at the Miss Illinois Youth Pageant on Sunday in Muscatine.
As part of the pageant, she helped lead a hygiene product donation drive in partnership with the Miss Illinois and Iowa Youth Program. During the state pageant weekend, participants assembled over 1,700 hygiene kits. Bieri is bringing 200 of them to be distributed locally.
WRMJ spoke with her about the honor.
