The two Mercer County School District IT workers arrested with Superintendent Tim Farquer last month will return to Mercer County Circuit Court for their preliminary hearings later this month.
Amberly Norton and Andrea Long, both 41 years old of Aledo, appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court for their respective preliminary hearings on Tuesday, where they were both delayed to Oct. 20. The delay was attributed to the defense.
Norton and Long are facing charges following an Aledo Police Department investigation into a complaint accusing Mercer County School District employees of illegally accessing students’ medical records. During their initial court appearance last month, Norton and Long were accused of committing the alleged offenses beginning on July 19, 2019.
Both are charged with a Class A misdemeanor of unauthorized access to medical records, a Class A misdemeanor of computer tampering and a Class 3 felony of official misconduct.
Farquer is facing the same charges. According to court records, he is alleged to have compiled a database of vaccine information about students and shared it with unauthorized people on Sept. 1. Farquer’s preliminary hearing is also scheduled for Oct. 20.
