Black Hawk College offering orientations this summer for the next session of the Highway Construction Careers Training Program. The 13-week class aims to increase the number of minorities, women and disadvantaged individuals working on Illinois Department of Transportation highway construction projects. There is no cost to participants who are accepted into the program says BHC’s Paul Fessler.
The 450-hour program meets 36-40 hours a week and covers math, job/life skills, blueprint reading, OSHA, stick welding, construction equipment operation, shop time and hands-on projects. The program begins Monday, August 14th at the college’s Quad-Cities Campus in Moline.
Interested students must attend one of these orientation sessions:
- Tuesday, June 27 at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
- Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 11 at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m.
