Paul and Gina Young of Viola have been named the March Farm Strong winners by CBI Bank & Trust and Farm Country 102.3 WRMJ. The surprise presentation took place at Young Farms, where WRMJ’s Terry James greeted the couple with a $100 prize.
Paul, a third-generation farmer, has been working the land since 1989. “I started farming on my own that year and worked alongside my dad until his death in 2020,” he shared. Gina also has deep roots in agriculture, with both of her grandfathers—Robert Sponsler and Robert Weeks—being farmers. “My dad farmed part-time before becoming a police officer,” she said. “Now I’ve been a farm wife for 21 years.”
The couple says they’re ready for the upcoming planting season—and proud to continue their family’s legacy in agriculture. Their dedication earned them a nomination from Kelly at Bowlyou’s in Aledo.
Each month, CBI Bank & Trust and Farm Country 102.3 WRMJ recognize a local farmer or farm family for their strength, resilience, and commitment to the farming way of life. The Youngs join a growing list of local agricultural leaders who truly embody what it means to be Farm Strong.
