Sherrard (22-10) saw its softball season end in the 2A sectional semifinals in a 3-2 loss to St. Bede (16-12) in Chillicothe Tuesday.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Emily Dormire singled in a run in the bottom of the first inning.
St. Bede responded with a solo home run by Ava Balestri in the top of the second inning to tie the game up. The Bruins took the lead on a two-out, two-run home run off the bat of Lily Bosnich in the top of the fifth inning to go ahead 3-1.
Kaylee Faccio cut the deficit to 3-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning for Sherrard.
The Tigers stranded the bases loaded in the fifth inning, left a runner at second base in the sixth, and stranded a runner at third in the seventh.
St. Bede advances to play Brimfield (32-3) in the sectional final on Friday.
