Rockets Advance To Super-Sectional, Tigers Rally Not Enough, Locke Medals

The Rockridge Rockets made it three in a row over Erie-Prophetstown rolling over the Panters 10-1 to advance to the Class 2A softball super-sectional Monday in East Peoria.  The Rockets won their sixth consecutive sectional title and 62nd consecutive game.  Kendra Lewis lead the way as she tossed a one-hitter and also went 3-4 with three RBI in the win. Lewis is now 22-0 on the season and the Rockets are 32-0 as they head to the Eastside Center to meet Richmond-Burton, ranked #4 in the Illinois Coaches Association poll.  Game time is 11:00 am and WRMJ will broadcast the game.

The Sherrard Tigers rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 3 but Brimfield-Elmwood quickly answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to propel them to a 6-3 IHSA Class 2A Knoxville Sectional championship game victory.  The Tigers close out their season at 14-11, one win shy of its first sectional championship since 2014 and third in program history.  Brimfield-Elmwood advances with a 27-2 record.

At the Class 1A State Track Meet Rockridge’s Peyton Locke registered two eight place finishes in the 100 and 200 to bring home medals.
