Riverdale (22-4, 9-1 TRAC West) blasted Rockridge (22-4, 8-2 TRAC West) 14-4 in six innings in Port Byron Thursday to win the TRAC West softball championship.
The Rams scored the first six runs of the game and never trailed.
Riverdale freshman catcher Brooklyn Peterson went 3-3 with a home run and five RBI. She now has 11 home runs and 55 RBI this season. Dannika Saddoris, Claire Beeeler, and Brie DeBlaey each drove in two runs for the Rams.
DeBlaey was the winning pitcher after allowing four runs in five innings.
Taylor Dieterich took the loss for Rockridge. She gave up eight runs (five earned) in two innings.
The loss for Rockridge snapped an eight-season conference championship streak.
