Riverdale beat Rockridge 5-2 at home on Wednesday to take sole possession of first place in the TRAC West softball race.
The Rams (18-2, 6-1 TRAC West) opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second inning and led for the rest of the day. Claire Beeler singled in a run in the bottom of the third and Brooklyn Peterson launched a solo home run, her 13th of the season, in the bottom of the fifth to give Riverdale a 5-0 lead.
Rockridge (15-4, 5-2 TRAC West) got on the board with a two-run home run by Emilee Black in the top of the sixth inning.
Beeler went 3-3 with two RBI, and Peterson finished 2-3 at the plate with a homer, double, and an RBI for Riverdale. Danika Saddoris was the winning pitcher after giving up two runs on six hits in seven innings.
Rockridge (15-4, 5-2 TRAC West) got on the board with a two-run home run by Emilee Black in the top of the sixth inning.
Bri Schalpkohl took the loss in the pitcher’s circle for the Rockets, giving up five runs (two earned) on eight hits in six innings.
