Peggy Larson – Services 7/5/25

Peggy Larson, 72 of Galesburg, formerly of New Boston, died Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 5, at the Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Peggy Jean was born on April 22, 1953, in New Boston, Illinois, to Milton and Gwendolyn M. (Humble) McDonald. She was a 1971 graduate of Westmer High School. Peggy was previously married to Denis Russell. From this union, 6 children were born. She later married Steve Larson, he preceded her in death.

Peggy was a dedicated homemaker, who loved working outside at landscaping and gardening. She also loved to attend all her children’s and later her grandchildren’s sporting events. You could also find her enjoying a game of cards with her sisters in earlier years. Peggy loved classic country music and loved to go to concerts and go dancing. It was at a dance, where she met her partner, Myron.

Peggy was a dedicated volunteer with the New Boston Ambulance and also worked with DustBusters Cleaning Services for several years.

Peggy is survived by her children and their spouses, Eric and Jenny Russell, Teresa and Troy Andress, Matt and Debbie Russell, Marc and April Russell, Andy and Randi Russell, and Darin Russell; step-children, Rob and Brittney Larson and Leda Larson; her partner, Myron Baughman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Kathleen Baker and Alice Cantrell. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Larson; grandson, Blake Russell; and siblings, Virginia Lascelles, Marilyn Nelson, Carol Foglesong, Jim McDonald, Jodie Whitlow, Mick McDonald, and an infant sister, Cheryl.
