The Northside Lofts development project has been approved by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) Board. The approval came on Friday.
The $11.5 million project will transform the former Aledo Junior High School, located at 205 North College Avenue, into an apartment complex with 30 units. The redevelopment involves converting the existing building into 24 apartments and constructing a new wing that will add six more. The project will include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, all equipped with appliances and in-unit washers and dryers.
The gymnasium will be converted into a multifunctional community space featuring a fitness zone, gaming lounge, and more. Outdoor amenities will include a community playground, basketball/pickleball court, and a community garden.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2026 with a targeted opening in 2027.
Northside Lofts is being developed through a partnership between Economic Growth Corporation and Basileia Investments.
