The Morrison School District Board of Education will vote Monday to accept an invitation from the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference (NUIC), according to the district’s school board agenda.
Morrison was a charter member of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) in 1975. The Mustangs/Fillies IHSA classification enrollment, 279, is the smallest in the conference. Morrison has competed in the TRAC West Division along with Rockridge, Sherrard, Orion, Monmouth-Roseville, Riverdale and Erie-Prophetstown.
Fulton, another charter member of the TRAC, left the conference to join the NUIC in the 2021-22 school year. St. Bede is leaving the TRAC at the end of the current school year. The Bruins will compete in the new Chicago Prairie Football League and in all other sports join the Tri-County Conference.
Mercer County accepted an invitation to join the TRAC in April, starting with the 2024-25 school year.
Morrison’s first year in the NUIC will be the 2024-25 school year.
As it stands, there will be 13 schools in the TRAC beginning in 2024-25: Mercer County, Rockridge, Sherrard, Orion, Monmouth-Roseville, Riverdale, Erie-Prophetstown, Kewanee, Bureau Valley, Newman Central Catholic, Princeton, Hall and Mendota.
