Mercer County School District IT Worker’s Illegal Access To Students’ Medical Records Case Continued To March

A Mercer County School District IT worker facing charges of illegally accessing students’ medical records will return to court in March.

41-year-old Andrea Long appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Monday for a pretrial conference, where the matter was continued to March 2. The delay was attributed to the defense.

Long was arrested in September, along with her twin sister and fellow district IT worker Amberly Norton and Mercer County School District Superintendent Tim Farquer, following an Aledo Police Department investigation into a complaint accusing Mercer County School District employees of illegally accessing students’ medical records. Norton and Long are accused of committing the alleged offenses beginning on July 19, 2019.

Long, Norton and Farquer are charged with a Class A misdemeanor of unauthorized access to medical records, a Class A misdemeanor of computer tampering, and a Class 3 felony of official misconduct.

Farquer will be in court on Thursday. Norton’s next court appearance is Jan. 20.
