Western Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen a key Democratic vote for the GOP-submitted farm bill in the House Ag Committee. The measure advanced to the full House on a 33-21 vote. Sorensen mentioned a Mercer County farmer during his opening remarks to the committee.
Illinois has four other congressional members serving on the House Ag Committee—Democrats Nikki Budzinski and Jonathan Jackson, who voted no on the House plan, while Republicans Mike Bost and Mary Miller voted yes.
Miller represents Aledo and the western portion of Mercer County. Sorensen represents the eastern portion of Mercer County.
