A local state senator is inviting the public to participate in his annual Valentine’s for Seniors Card Drive.
State Sen. Neil Anderson’s (R-Andalusia) initiative is underway and runs through Feb. 6. He encourages individuals, families, classrooms, and community groups to create homemade Valentine’s Day cards for seniors living in nursing homes, assisted-living, and long-term care facilities throughout his district.
“Our seniors have given so much to our communities, and this is a simple but meaningful way to show them how much they are appreciated,” said Anderson. “Valentine’s Day can be especially difficult for those who may feel isolated, and these cards serve as a reminder that they are remembered, valued, and loved.”
Completed cards may be mailed or dropped off at Anderson’s District Office located at 103 N. College Ave., Suite 201, Aledo, IL 61231. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and an after-hours drop box is available outside the office as well.
