Fair Queen Megan Bowlyou Plans To Bring Her Passion For Education Back To Rock Island County

Megan Bowlyou grew up loving the Rock Island County Fair—and now, as the 2025 Miss Rock Island County Fair, she’s using her role to give back to the community that helped shape her. A Sherrard native and former 4-H participant, Bowlyou says she’s always seen the fair as more than an event—it’s a place that builds connections, character, and pride.

Currently studying to become a high school history teacher at Bradley University, Bowlyou says she’s committed to returning to Rock Island County after graduation. “Absolutely, I love Rock Island County. I’m so happy to be able to represent it,” she said. Her goal is to teach locally, stay involved with the fair, and help inspire the next generation.

Following in her older sister’s footsteps—who also wore the fair queen crown—Megan is proud to serve as a role model for younger fairgoers. Whether awarding ribbons in the show ring or cheering on youth exhibitors, she sees the fair as a reminder of what’s possible when young people are supported by their community.
