An Aledo man has been ruled fit to stand trial in a Class X felony terrorism/threat case. The order was entered Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court concerning 24-year-old Caden Miller.
He was charged in October following an investigation involving a social media comment regarding the Mercer County High School homecoming parade.
According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department media release at the time, “Sheriff’s Office personnel, Aledo Police, and Mercer County School District administration worked together to develop a plan to assure the safety of everyone with the least amount of disruption to the public. Deputies worked diligently and quickly to identify the person who made the comment.”
A fitness evaluation was ordered for Miller shortly after his arrest. He was granted pre-trial release Tuesday with GPS monitoring and other conditions.
Miller waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to the charge. The case is set for review on Jan. 6 in Mercer County Circuit Court.
