Brian Michael Forret, 68, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, following a sudden illness. A private burial will take place in October in his hometown of Aledo, Illinois, bringing Brian home to rest.
Brian was born February 25, 1958, in Moline, Illinois, to Roger Alphonse Forret, Jr., and Mary Kay (Varner) Forret. He grew up in Aledo and, although life took him many places over the years, Aledo was always his hometown.
Brian was the proud father of two daughters, Kaytlan Benson (Julian) and Shelby Forret (Tramaine Massiah), both of Ocala, Florida. He was also Grandpa to Kayslee, Breyella, Atlas, and Sonder, who brought joy to his life.
Brian loved to golf, read, and sail, but he especially loved people. He truly never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation just about anywhere. Those who knew Brian will remember his outgoing nature, his stories, and his unmistakable laugh.
He is survived by his siblings, Brad Forret (Tina) of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, Jennifer Hamerlinck (Steve) of Reynolds, Illinois, and Bruce Forret (Penny) of Indian Trails, North Carolina, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Chip Forret; and his partner, Lisa Boyette.
