Joan R. Miller, 89 of Muscatine, Iowa, formerly of Joy, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, at Pearl City Place in Muscatine. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, at Peniel Cemetery in Joy. There is no visitation. Memorials may be left to the family. Joan was born on June 4, 1937, in Muscatine to Verdi and Ruth Leibig Fisher. Joan graduated from Joy High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Jack Miller on July 8, 1954, in Aledo. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before his passing on April 4, 2000.
Joan was a self-employed beautician working out of her home in rural Joy for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers in the garden, decorating her home, and going shopping. Joan also really enjoyed her time spent with friends and family.
Those left to cherish Joan’s memory include her two daughters, Kathy (Harry) Kaufmann of Moscow, Iowa, and Denise (Ricky) Persinger of Mesa, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Angela Kraklio, Heather Achor, Brandon (Meggan) Kaufmann, Tricia (Brett) Ford, Melissa (Paul) Kissell, Jason (Michelle Fisher) King, and Jennifer Howard; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack; parents, Verdi and Ruth; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Letha Miller; and one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Fisher.
