LRS and the City of Aledo are sending a reminder to residents on the upcoming winter waste and recycling collection.
In a press release sent Monday, LRS is asking residents to make sure all waste is securely bagged and placed inside their waste cart with the lid fully closed, which prevents loose items from blowing away and helps maintain clean streets and neighborhoods.
Recycling items, however, should never be bagged and placed in the recycling cart. LRS asks that recyclables, such as paper, cardboard, bottles, and cans, be placed loose in the cart. Bagged recyclables cannot be properly sorted at recycling facilities and may be sent to a landfill instead.
Residents are also encouraged to:
- Place carts at the curb by 5 a.m. on collection day.
- Keep carts three feet apart and away from mailboxes, poles, or parked cars.
- Return carts to a secure location after collection to prevent them from tipping or blowing over.
