Congress has approved the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act of 2024 (WRDA), which includes $7 million in funding for clean drinking water infrastructure in Sherrard.
The project includes construction of a new water tower and replacing a filter in the Village’s wastewater lagoon to improve water quality. Western Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen is a supporter of the WRDA legislation. He stopped in Sherrard last fall.
WRDA is a comprehensive water infrastructure package that authorizes U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects to improve the nation’s ports and harbors, inland waterway navigation, flood and storm protection, and other aspects of water resources infrastructure. Now that both the House and Senate have passed the bill, it will be sent to the president for his signature.
