An education funding bill wins approval in the Illinois General Assembly, but not with support from local State Reprenative Dan Swanson. He was backing an evidence based approach, but says an amendment to the bill bailed out Chicago Public School pensions and that was the deal breaker for him.
The evidence based approach that Swanson supported was the result of Governor Rauner’s Education Funding Task Force, which included local Regional Superintendent Jodi Scott.
Rauner will now have final say on the amended bill.
