Mercer County Crisis Center Not Giving Up Hope On Budget

The Mercer County Family Crisis Center is holding out hope that the Illinois Senate and Governor will pass an appropriations bill that is badly needed by the nonprofit. Center Director Marla Reynolds says she is not ready to give up.

“We’ve planned for the rainy day and it’s raining. We’ve planned ahead and we have some resources. I think realistically could we operate another year without funding? I’m not sure. We are getting close to looking at that number.”

Reynolds is thankful to local legislators and the members of the community.

“I have to say our community, and when I say community I mean the entire county – have been so supportive of us and so responsive to our needs, I cannot look at it as a doomsday thing yet. I just really cannot.”

Reynolds says they were not included in the last stop-gap budget by mistake.
