Riverdale outscored Mercer County 17-6 in the fourth quarter to come from behind to defeat the Golden Eagles 46-41 in TRAC West girls basketball on Monday.
Mercer County led 35-29 at the end of the third quarter after sophomore Shadia Williams made a three-pointer to close the quarter. The Golden Eagles extended their lead to 39-32 midway through the fourth, which was the largest lead for either team.
Riverdale (14-1, 4-0 TRAC West) would then close the game on a 14-2 run, forcing five straight Mercer County turnovers down the stretch, to take the lead for good.
Cayleigh Hungate scored a game-high 23 points for the Rams.
Williams carried Mercer County’s offense with 22 points in the loss. Alayana Mitchell added 10.
The Golden Eagles (15-2, 2-1 TRAC West) had an 11-game winning streak snapped.
Riverdale girls basketball coach Jay Hatch won his 600th career game in the victory.
