A juvenile has been arrested following two suspicious fires at Viola residences last weekend. The fires occurred Saturday. The youth was taken into custody following an investigation and remains in custody at a juvenile detention center, according to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release. The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Viola Fire Department, Matherville Fire Department, Genesis Ambulance, New Boston Police Department, and the Illinois State Fire Marshals Division of Arson Investigation.
