Mercer County (2-1, 1-0 TRAC Rock) beat Orion (1-2, 0-1 TRAC Rock) 56-41 at Charger Field Friday.
The Golden Eagles led 22-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Chargers rallied with two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the first half to cut the deficit to 22-14. Mercer County quarterback John Baldwin scored on a 34-yard TD run as time expired in the first half to push the Golden Eagles advantage back to two scores, 28-14. Mason Gray racked up 371 rushing yards, which set the Mercer County school record for single game rushing yards, and five touchdowns in the win. Orion quarterback Kale Filler passed for 281 yards and three TDs. He now holds Orion’s career passing yards record.
Rockridge (2-1, 1-0 TRAC Rock) defeated Riverdale (1-2, 0-1 TRAC Rock) 48-27 in Port Byron Friday.
The Rockets led 48-6 in the third quarter. Jacob Freyermuth scored two rushing TDs and returned an interception for a score in the win for Rockridge.
Princeton (3-0, 1-0 TRAC Mississippi) downed Sherrard (0-3, 0-1 TRAC Mississippi) 60-0 at home Friday.
Princeton led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, but then scored 39 points in the second quarter to take a 46-0 lead at hafltime.
