A five vehicle crash on U.S. 67 in lower Rock Island County kills two people. The accident occurred last night at 6:48 p.m. A preliminary report by the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department reveals that a northbound vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck an oncoming car head-on. Three other vehicles could not avoid the crash at the time of impact. The drivers who collided head-on were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released. Four other people sustained serious injuries from the crash and were taken to area hospitals. U.S. 67 was closed in both directions for several hours as a result of the crash.
