Theft Charges Filed In Case Involving Mercer County School District & Booster Club

Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee announcing today that two Class 2 felony theft counts have been filed in a case involving the Mercer County Athletic Booster Club and Mercer County School District. A $30,000 arrest warrant is being issued for 43 year old Angie Dellitt of Aledo. The count involving the school district alleges unauthorized control of between $500 and $10,000 with the booster club count alleging between $10,000 and $100,000. Dellitt served as treasurer for the booster club and district office bookkeeper for Unit 404. She was placed on paid leave by school district on July 31. The counts allege she used the funds for personal use, such as hotel rooms, restaurants, meals and other personal items.

The following is a prepared statement from the Mercer County School District:

On July 31, 2018, the District placed an employee on paid administrative leave after it was made aware of a situation involving her role as treasurer for the Mercer County Golden Eagles Athletic Boosters. A criminal investigation by the Aledo Police Department and the Mercer County State’s Attorney is pending, and the District is fully cooperating with law enforcement.

While the Athletic Booster Club is unaffiliated with the District, the District will also conduct an internal investigation consistent with the Board’s duty to serve as responsible stewards of the District’s resources.

Given the ongoing criminal investigation, the District cannot comment any further at this time.
