Shorthanded Mon-Rose Slips Past Mercer County

Monmouth-Roseville (5-1, 2-0 TRAC West) defeated Mercer County (3-5, 1-1 TRAC West) 59-48 in girls basketball Thursday.

The Golden Eagles led 23-17 in the second quarter but the Titans scored the next 11 points and closed the first half on a 13-2 run to take a 30-25 lead at the break. Monmouth-Roseville controlled the game the rest of the way.

The Titans played shorthanded, without senior Brianna Woodard (21.1 points, 10.2 rebounds per game). Freshman Layla Katile replaced Woodard in Monmouth-Roseville’s starting lineup and scored a game-high 25 points. Tatianna Talivaa added 15 points and Emma Robinson had 11.

Molly Hofmann led Mercer County with 14 points. Alayna Mitchell was also in double figures for the Golden Eagles with 10.
