Sherrard and Orion each saw their seasons end in regional championship losses on Friday.
Sherrard (22-8) fell to Farmington 72-62 in Farmington
The Farmers (17-13) were 10-20 from three-point attempts and led by as many 17 points in the fourth quarter. Sherrard rallied to cut the deficit to six in the final minute of the game, but never got closer than that.
Jack Gronewold buried six three-pointers and led Farmington with 24 points. Landon Gardner added 22, while Boston Smith scored 15 in the win.
Carter Brown poured in a game-high 28 points for Sherrard, 24 of which came in the second half.
Orion (25-9) came up one point short in a 46-45 loss to Eastland (29-5), which was last year’s Class 1A runner-up.
The Chargers led by eight points at one point in the third quarter, but trailed 36-31 at the end of the third quarter. After trailing by as many as eight in the fourth quarter, Orion tied the game 44-44 with 1:20 left.
Down two in the final seconds, Orion was fouled on a three-point attempt as time expired, but made just one of the three free throws with no time on the clock.
