Sherrard (1-0, 0-0 TRAC West) defeated Rock Island (0-1, 0-0 Western Big 6) in straight sets to open the volleyball season with a win, 25-16, 25-18 Tuesday.
Grace Bohnert led the Tigers with four kills in the victory. Jenna Copeland totaled 13 assists and freshman Laney Slattery served three aces for Sherrard.
