WRMJ Audio: Sherrard High School Recognizes Cpl. Luxmore’s Ultimate Sacrifice; Jersey Retired On 9/11

Sherrard High School honored the legacy of 2005 graduate Bryant J. Luxmore this past Saturday, Sept. 11th. The New Windsor native was killed in action in 2012 in Afghanistan. His high school football jersey number 5 was retired in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s football game. Athletic Director Michael Applegate says it was important for B.J.’s family to be there.

Sherrard football coach Brandon Johnston says it was an emotional day for everyone involved.

B.J.’s memory is also on display with a baseball scoreboard at the school and the B.J. Luxmore Highway runs between Viola and New Windsor on Illinois Route 17.
